Mice

Say Goodbye to Your Pest Problem!

You may be a courteous host, but mice are one group with whom you'd likely not share your house. Mice carry illnesses and can put your family's well-being in danger, in addition to causing damage to your home.

Fortunately, getting rid of mice consists of a simple process with Colorado Pest Management! Keep reading to find out more.

What Do They Look Like?

Mice are tiny and thin, weighing between 0.5 and 1 oz. Their tails are lengthy, thinly furred, and coated with spikes, while their ears are big and nearly hairless. With white or buff hues, the fur is light brown or grey.

Mice in captivity may live for up to two years, whereas wild mice only survive for 9 to 18 months. Mice are very adaptive and quick creatures. They have strong senses of smell and touch and can jump up to twelve inches. They are tough to catch because, despite their weak eyesight, their spatial awareness is good at detecting movement.

What They Feed On?

Mice consume a wide variety of foods. They like cereal, grains, and nuts but will eat anything, including fruit and pet food, if it is available. They have solid powerful teeth that allow them to chomp through plastic and rubber packaging.

This means they have access to even the most secure containers. House mice are omnivorous, although they favor grains, fruits, and seeds to eat. As a result, crops and home gardens may be severely harmed. Despite the popular belief that mice are drawn to cheese, they prefer carbohydrates-rich meals.

What Brings Them Home?

While mice are adept at building nests in the wild, they would gladly enter a warm house if given the opportunity. They go inside homes when the temperature cools and winter approaches, seeking refuge and warmth, and with their need of constant food sources to survive, they'll set up shop wherever there's enough food to feed them.

They build nests in which to give birth and raise their young. They prefer soft materials such as shredded paper and cotton, but they will also utilize whatever else they can get their hands on.

How Do I Know If I Have an Infestation?

Even though mice are tiny animals, the evidence they leave behind is often apparent. On shelves and surrounding food containers, there are chew marks or scratch marks. You could also see scratches on the baseboards and around the floor trim, crumbs or detritus from food in unexpected places, or mouse feces, which resemble tiny oblong pellets.
