By knowing these common entry points, you’ll be better armed in knowing what to look for:

• Pipelines (HVAC, A/C, etc)
• Gaps in the foundation
• Windows and Doors
• Roofs 
• Through the garage
• Vents and airways

When walking around your home and checking these points, look for any visual disturbance around the area that might indicate signs of entry, such as mice droppings, footprints, chewed pieces of fabric, paper, or cardboard.

What to Bring

You’ll want a flashlight, gloves, and the ability to get down on the ground to look at areas where the external item meets or goes into the house. You’ll also want to bring talcum powder or flour to pour on the ground to help track for mice prints.

What To Look For

While inspecting for mice, be sure to look for any droppings, urine smells or stains, evidence of nesting or gnaw marks, and any tracks or footprints. Inside your home, you will want to check behind any appliances for droppings and/or any holes the mice may have chewed in your walls.

What you can do

Clean up your yard, keep spaces inside and out free of trash, and food particles, and seal any holes and gaps. Small holes can be stuffed with steel wool to provide an abrasive, chew-proof barrier.
